Lauren Redfield Fernandez is a seasoned School Psychologist who has been supporting children and families in New York since 2012. Her career spans both the New York City public school system and the New York State independent school system, including her work at the Cooke School and Institute.
Over the years, Lauren has served in a range of roles, including School Psychologist, Counselor, and most recently, Director of Behavioral and Mental Health. Her diverse background allows her to approach each family with insight, empathy, and practical tools tailored to their child’s unique needs.
Lauren specializes in developing and implementing behavioral intervention plans within school settings and working closely with families to extend these supports at home. She has extensive experience conducting psychoeducational evaluations, crafting IEPs, and advocating for students to ensure their needs are recognized and met.
Originally from Connecticut, Lauren attended boarding school at The Kent School before earning her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Cognitive Science from Villanova University. She later received her Master’s in Education and Specialist Degree in School Psychology from Fordham University.
Lauren now lives in Westchester with her husband, their two daughters, and their charming (and occasionally mischievous) dachshund.
Social Emotional & Behavioral Consultation
At Redfield Educational Consulting, we partner with families navigating challenges related to their child’s social-emotional development or behavioral concerns. We take the time to understand your child’s unique story, and work collaboratively to identify effective supports both at home and in school. In addition to her child-centered clinical training, Lauren is trained in Parent Counseling, helping families explore and improve the parent-child relationship to create lasting positive change.
Special Education Consultation & Advocacy
Understanding the special education system can be overwhelming. We help families make sense of psychoeducational evaluations, clarify the meaning of recommendations, and understand how these insights can shape a child’s educational journey. Lauren serves as an advocate during IEP meetings, helping parents communicate effectively and confidently with school personnel. Services include comprehensive record reviews, attendance at school meetings, and personalized guidance to ensure your child receives the support they deserve.
